The space
Studio Apartment:
This consists of a double bed ensuite and a private kitchen area. There is a sofa bed in the kitchen if needed for extra guests. The windows give a beautiful view out to the fields where horses and cattle are grazing.
The Two Bedroom Apartment:
Here you have two bedrooms with each a double bed and ensuite bathrooms. A short hallway leads to a seperate kitchen area. The windows offer a spectacular view out to the fields.
The Yard:
All guests can enjoy nature out in the yard. Here you can find nice tables and benches to enjoy your breakfast in the beautiful morning sun, or listen to the birds singing. You can also go up to the stables and rub our horses or play with the dogs.

Apartments Bedroom 2
Denis and Ita are fabulous hosts. They are super friendly, fun, and helpful. I really appreciated their hospitality and kindness. The apartment was perfect for a weekend in the Irish countryside. It was comfortable, super clean, and well equipped. Location is also great - I spent the weekend cross-country riding at Flowerhill farm, which is just a few minutes away. And it was an easy drive to/from Dublin. I am already planning my next visit :-)

Studio Apartment
Oldthort Cottage in Portumna is a beautiful and peaceful hide away from the rest of the world. Surrounded by excellent nature views and elegant horses with a very homey housing. Our host Denis is a wonderful host and we highly recommend everyone to stay at Oldthort Cottage in Portumna. Here not far is the most amazing Portumna Forest Park where one could walk hours on end. The most fabulous stay we have had in Ireland. PS! the wifi here is super fast, so wether on business or vacation, here you are always well connected. We enjoyed our stay at Oldthort Cottage and will surely return.
The Neighbourhood
Location Type
The cottages are in a very calm and beautiful neighbourhood. It is perfect if you want to enjoy nature, relax and recharge your batteries. In addition to that, the cottages lie close enough to a lot of tourist attractions, should you feel the need to explore this beautiful area of of Ireland.
Area Attractions
Walking, Hiking, Fishing, Boating ,Kayaking, Golfing ,Horse Riding, Go Karting and many historic attractions locally.
Attractions in town:
Go for a walk in the beautiful forest park and take a camera with you to take pictures of the White Tailed eagle family. After you can visit the famous Castle and go on a guided tour. Relax and enjoy a coffee in one of the many cafes around town. In addition you can visit the old workhouse which was a very important part in Irish history.
Later after a full day of exploring if you wish to enjoy a cold drink, visit one of the cosy pubs some of which have live traditional music. All attractions are close enough to be reached by foot should you not have a car.
Attractions nearby:
There are several tourist attractions around the area of Portumna. Such as Clonmacnoise where you can enjoy a peaceful walk amongst the old stone ruins. You can also enjoy a historic walk around the ruins of Pallas and Redwood Castles. There is Go Karting nearby Portumna.
In addition to that you can visit Nenagh and its Heritage Centre or the Swimming Pool and Leisure Centre. If you are into horses, the Flowerhill Equestrian Centre is a beautiful place to visit and only over the road from our location.
Roadtrips for a day:
If you are in the mood for a road trip, the Cliffs of Moher and Galway would be perfect destinations. We are ideally located in the centre of the country if you wish to use our location as a base point for exploring.
